Title of presentation: Advances in neurorehabilitation science: the role of biomarkers as prognostic factors.
Short abstract
A stroke recovery biomarker can be defined as an indicator of disease state that can be used as a measure of underlying molecular/cellular processes and structural and functional connectivity. These could be used to understand outcome, or predict recovery or treatment response. In practical terms, biomarkers should improve our ability to predict long-term outcomes after stroke across multiple domains. This is beneficial for patients, caregivers and clinicians as well as for planning subsequent clinical pathways and goal setting. This presentation aims to deliver the latest progress in the field.
