Prof. Nobile-Orazio graduated at Milan University where he obtained his MD degree in 1978, Board in Neurology in 1982, and PhD in Neurological Sciences in 1987. From 1982 to 1984 he was a Research Fellow at the Department of Neurology at Columbia University in New York. In 2001 he was nominated Associate Professor of Neurology and in 2019 Full Professor of Neurology at Milan University. He chairs since 2004 the Neuromuscular and Neuroimmunology Service at Humanitas Clinical and Research Center, Rozzano, Milan, Italy.
Until 2005 he was co-ordinator of the Italian Peripheral Nerve Study group. From 2011 to 2013 he was President of the Peripheral Nerve Society. He is member of the Italian Neurological Society (member of the Executive Committee), Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology, Peripheral Nerve Society (Chair of the Education Committee until 2017) and Corresponding Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Since 2013 he is member of the Medical Advisory Board of GBS-CIDP Foundation International. He is consultant of Italian Neuropathy Patients’ Association.
He authored over 230 papers mainly devoted at exploring the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of immune mediated neuropathies and 22 Chapters in Books. He was the principal investigator of a randomized trial comparing the efficacy and tolerance of therapy with IVIg or methylprednisolone in CIDP. He is active participant and Country Coordinator of the IGOS study. He participate in the preparation of EFNS/PNS Guidelines on CIDP, MMN, Paraproteinemic neuropathy and is currently participating in the revision of these Guidelines and in the preparation of the GBS guidelines. He coordinates the Italian CIDP Database Study Group and a similar Database on MMN. In 2005 he organized the Meeting of the Peripheral Nerve Society in Tuscany and in 2019 in Genoa, in Italy.
