Hans L. Hamburger MD PhD, neurologist, somnologist
Hans Hamburger studied medicine at the university of Amsterdam and obtained his PhD in June 1980.
After specialization in neurology and clinical neurophysiology he was chairman of the department of clinical neurophysiology and later head of the neurology department of the municipal hospital of Amsterdam.
In 1990 he was the founder and head of the Amsterdam Sleep Centre, the largest multidisciplinary accredited Sleep clinic in The Netherlands. He founded two more sleep centres and is currently the head of the Amsterdam Sleep Centre at the Boerhaave Medical Centre.
Until November 2016 he was president of the Netherlands Society for Sleep- and Wake research, NSWO.
Dr Hamburger is co-author of several books and articles on sleep. He has organised many training courses and conferences on sleep and sleep disorders, the most recent ISMC (International Sleep Medicine Course) June 12-15 2018.
