Matthew Walker is a Professor of Neurology at UCL Institute of Neurology, and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London.
He trained in clinical neurology at St Thomas’s Hospital, Guy’s Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and carried out a PhD and post-doctoral training at UCL in synaptic physiology. He has established both clinical and experimental research groups and has broad scientific interests from basic physiology and mechanisms regulating brain excitability to clinical studies in EEG, and epilepsy surgery. He has published over 200 original articles.
He is secretary of ILAE-Europe and President of the British Chapter.
He was awarded the ambassador of Epilepsy award in 2013 and is a Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology.
