Tamas Revesz graduated from the Semmelweis Medical University, Budapest, Hungary as an MD and subsequently was trained as clinical neuropathologist in London. With examination, he obtained Membership in the Royal College of Pathologists and later he became a Fellow. After his training, he was appointed as Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Neurology and Honorary Consultant Neuropathologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. He became Reader in 2001 and Professor of Neuropathology in 2004. Between 2001 and his retirement in 2013, he was the neuropathologist Director of the Queen Square Brain Bank for Neurological Disorders (QSBB), which is one of the largest tissue resources for movement disorders in the UK. The QSBB also houses a large collection of frontotemporal lobar degeneration cases and other rare neurodegenerative diseases. He is past President of the Clinical Neurosciences Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and was an officer of the British Neuropathological Society. He obtained a PhD from the University of Warwick.
He has a research interest in neurodegenerative diseases and has published extensively in this field. His current research is on understanding patterns of neuropathological progression and mechanisms underlying disease heterogeneity in corticobasal degeneration. He published over 320 peer-reviewed articles and, according to Web of Science, his H-index is 73 and has 21,000 citations. He is also the author of 22 book chapters and was on the editorial or advisory board of several international journals.
